· EVENT BENEFICIARIES
The net proceeds from this event benefits the Tahoe Rim Trail Association trail maintenance program and the Lake Tahoe Nevada State Parks backcountry mountain bike safety patrol. We are very pleased that we have been able to donate nearly $10,000 to each from the first five years' proceeds of the TRT 50K/50M Endurance Runs.

· COURSE
The 50K course has been described as a "bent over stick figure" (you'll probably have to take a look at the course map to fully understand). The 50-mile and 100-mile events follow the same course with the addition of a challenging 9-mile out and back (18 mile total) starting around mile 17. All courses are on predominately single track trail but each have approximately 10 miles on dirt roads. The 100-mile course is a double loop of the 50-mile course.

The start/finish at Spooner Lake State Park is at 7000 feet. The low point in the event is at the bottom of the Red House Loop at approximately 6800 feet. The highest point in the course is 9,000 feet, just north of the Snow Valley Peak Aid Station. The elevation of Snow Valley Peak is 9214 feet.

· 100-MILE COMPETITION RULES

For detailed information about the 100-Mile National Championship rules and regulations please read the attached "COMPETITION RULES"

[WORD] [ADOBE]

· SAFETY RUNNERS

Athletes competing in the RRCA National 100-Mile Ultra Championship AND the USA Track & Field 100-Mile National Trail Championship will be allowed to use safety runners. Safety runners are allowed solely as a safety consideration for fatigued runners in the remote and rugged backcountry areas of the Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance Runs. Absolutely no physical or mechanical aid may be given by the safety runner to assist the runner over difficult sections of the trail (except in medical emergencies), and no food, fluids or supplies of any kind may be carried for the runner. 100-Mile safety runners are allowed beginning at the start/finish line aid station (50-miles) and at the second Mt. Rose aid station visit (76.3-miles). Both aid stations are accessible by car.

Pacing is NOT allowed. Safety runners are required to stay behind their competitor.

No competitor who is not actually taking part in the competition shall accompany any competitor during the competition nor shall any competitor be permitted to receive aid or refreshment from anyone during the progress of the competition except within 100 meters on either side of the fully stocked aid stations.

Safety runners must check in with our registration staff prior to the event and will be issued a safety runner bib number. This will help us make sure they are readily identifiable by our aid station staffs, make sure we have enough food and beverage on the course for everyone and account for their safety in the same manner as our registered runners. All safety runners are required to sign an event waiver.

50-MILERS: Safety runners are allowed beginning at the Mt. Rose aid station for the 50-Mile event. This is the first (and only) aid station accessible by car. It's roughly at the "half-way" point of the 50-Miler.

50-Mile safety runners will abide by the same rules as the 100-Mile safety runners. Safety runners must check in with our registration staff prior to the event and will be issued a pacer bib number. This will help us make sure they are readily identifiable by our aid station staffs, make sure we have enough food and beverage on the course for everyone, account for their safety in the same manner as our registered runners, and have them sign the event waiver. Additionally, if they wish to participate in the post-race "burrito bar" they will need to purchase separate meal tickets.

· DROP BAG INFORMATION
ALL DROP BAGS SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO PACKET-PICK-UP AT THE NEVADA STATE CAPITOL LEGISLATIVE GROUNDS!

100-Mile event: Drop bags will be allowed at the Hobart, Tunnel Creek, Mt. Rose, and Snow Valley Peak aid stations. Drop bags will also be allowed at the start/finish area which will also be the ½ way point. All 100-mile drop bags will be returned to and available for pick-up at the awards ceremony on Sunday afternoon at the Nevada State Capitol Legislative Grounds.

Both 50K and 50-Mile events: 50-Mile runners can have drop bags delivered to the Tunnel Creek and Mt. Rose Aid Stations. Please be aware that drop bags will not be returned until approximately 3 pm for Mt Rose and approximately 5 pm for Tunnel Creek. Any unclaimed 50K and 50M drop bags will also be available at the awards ceremony on Sunday afternoon. Based upon these times you may want to put in only what you will consume during the race.

PLEASE LABEL YOUR BAGS CLEARLY WITH NAME, BIB NUMBER AND DESIRED AID STATION. RACE MANAGEMENT IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MISSING OR DAMAGED CONTENTS.

· PRE AND POST-EVENT REFRESHMENTS
We will again host you, "post-event", at our "Build Your Own Burrito Bar". This is included in the entry fee for all registered participants. There will be a nominal $10 per person fee for non-participant family and friends who wish to partake in the feast. Tickets will be available on race day.

B'sghetti's Restaurant, Carson City, will again be offering two tasty microbrew beer options! A 16-ounce glass of beer will be available for the low price of $2. Don't forget to bring money with you to the start so you don't have to shuttle back to your car after the race in order to celebrate with a cold one

And again this year B'sghetti's Restaurant (rated as one of the best restaurants in Carson City) will offer participants (and guests) a pasta dinner on Friday evening. They will offer two types of pasta (spaghetti and penne), three different sauces (marinara, meat and alfredo), salad and garlic bread. YOUR 2008 REGISTRATION INCLUDES YOU PASTA DINNER. Additional dinner tickets can be purchased for your family and guests for $12 each. The dinner will be served in conjunction with packet pick-up on Friday at the Nevada State Capitol Legislative Park between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m at B'Sgetti's Restaurant 2 blocks away.

· MEDICAL ARRANGEMENTS
There will be First Aid / CPR qualified individuals and radio and /or cell phone communications at each aid station. There will be medical staff at key aid stations and at the start/finish. Safety patrol personnel will be deployed within each division between aid stations.

· PARKING
No event parking will be allowed within the Spooner Lake State Park because it is extremely limited and the park is still open for general visitors. We are providing ample FREE satellite parking nearby at Spooner Junction approximately 1/2-mile from the park.

Shuttle vans will be available before and after the race to transport participants, family and friends to and from the event site. Participants are encouraged to arrive early to allow for the extra time needed to shuttle to the event site. We'll provide secure bag storage at the start/finish area.
