· 100-MILE COMPETITION RULES
For detailed information about the 100-Mile National Championship rules and regulations please read the attached "COMPETITION RULES"
[WORD] [ADOBE]
· SAFETY RUNNERS
Athletes competing in the RRCA National 100-Mile Ultra Championship AND the USA Track & Field 100-Mile National Trail Championship will be allowed to use safety runners. Safety runners are allowed solely as a safety consideration for fatigued runners in the remote and rugged backcountry areas of the Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance Runs. Absolutely no physical or mechanical aid may be given by the safety runner to assist the runner over difficult sections of the trail (except in medical emergencies), and no food, fluids or supplies of any kind may be carried for the runner. 100-Mile safety runners are allowed beginning at the start/finish line aid station (50-miles) and at the second Mt. Rose aid station visit (76.3-miles). Both aid stations are accessible by car.
Pacing is NOT allowed. Safety runners are required to stay behind their competitor.
No competitor who is not actually taking part in the competition shall accompany any competitor during the competition nor shall any competitor be permitted to receive aid or refreshment from anyone during the progress of the competition except within 100 meters on either side of the fully stocked aid stations.
Safety runners must check in with our registration staff prior to the event and will be issued a safety runner bib number. This will help us make sure they are readily identifiable by our aid station staffs, make sure we have enough food and beverage on the course for everyone and account for their safety in the same manner as our registered runners. All safety runners are required to sign an event waiver.
50-MILERS: Safety runners are allowed beginning at the Mt. Rose aid station for the 50-Mile event. This is the first (and only) aid station accessible by car. It's roughly at the "half-way" point of the 50-Miler.
50-Mile safety runners will abide by the same rules as the 100-Mile safety runners. Safety runners must check in with our registration staff prior to the event and will be issued a pacer bib number. This will help us make sure they are readily identifiable by our aid station staffs, make sure we have enough food and beverage on the course for everyone, account for their safety in the same manner as our registered runners, and have them sign the event waiver. Additionally, if they wish to participate in the post-race "burrito bar" they will need to purchase separate meal tickets.
