DESCRIPTION

Another rave run, with the option of an easy 3 mile loop around Spooner Lake or a more challenging run up North Canyon towards Marlette Lake for as far as you want. This is the southern access point to the Flume Trail as well as other run options up Snow Valley Peak and the Tahoe Rim Trail towards Mount Rose.

In the summertime, the Sagebrush Stompers usually switch their Ladies' Run to the Tahoe Rim Trail towards Snow Valley Peak. They park at the TRT trailhead on the NORTH side of Highway 50 (right as you come up the hill from Carson City).

Dogs strictly ON LEASH around Spooner Lake and the parking area. They're OK on North Canyon and Marlette Lake but remember to share the trail with mountain bikes and equestrians.

There are restrooms at Spooner Lake State Park, 2 pit toilets up North Canyon, and one at Marlette Lake..

There is currently a $5.00 per vehicle park entry fee

Take US HWY 50 to Spooner Summit and turn North onto SR 28. The entrance to the park is on your right, 1/2 mile down 28. We generally take the first right after the park entrance. Do not turn towards the bike/ski rental cabin (off to the right) but instead, turn left and park on the south side of the bathrooms.

We usually carpool from Round Hill Safeway.
