| Tahoe Rim Trail between Echo and Luther |
DESCRIPTION
Despite the distance, and over 3 miles of quad-pushing uphill at the sart,
the Showers Lake run continues to be declared Club Best every year.
This run is 16 miles long and stretches from the Echo Summit trailhead of
the Tahoe Rim Trail to the Big Meadow trailhead on Luther Pass. Along the way you'll
see 100-mile views across Meiss Country, run through shoulder-high stands
of wildflowers, and jump across the headwaters of the Truckee River without
getting your feet wet.
Bring plenty of food and water as the time this run takes is longer than the distance
might indicate. You'll also appreciate REAL FOOD, a wet towel, and a pair of sandals
waiting for you at trail's end. A camera is a must for this one, too.

DIRECTIONS
Take US HWY 50 out of South Lake Tahoe, through Myers, towards
Sacramento. Turn RIGHT at Echo Summit at first the Sno-Park sign you come to.
Drive to the parkng lot at the end on your left. TRT Trailhead information is posted there.
We need to need to leave some cars at trail's end on Luther Pass before driving up to Echo
Summit. The Big Meadow Trailhead is on the NORTH (a
left if you're driving up from Myers) on Highway 89 as you approach the Grass Lake Area.
Watch for the Rim Trail signs and be careful - this one's easy to miss as the
parking lot is out of sight from the highway.
