DESCRIPTION

Instead of running up Taylor Creek on the Kokanee Trail Runs, the Rainbow Trail takes you down the creek to Kiva Beach on Lake Tahoe. Along the way, you'll pass the Stream Profile Center, Taylor Creek Interpretive Center, and the historic estates around Valhalla. Mid-October is the best time to see the famous Kokanee Salmon spawning. Plan on an easy loop of about 2-3 miles.

There are too many restrictions to make this a desirable dog run.

Lots of bathrooms at the Interpretive Center and The Estates

From the "Y" in South Lake Tahoe, take HWY 89 towards Tahoe City. Approximately 1.5 miles from Camp Richardson, you will cross over Taylor Creek. Turn LEFT (at the brown SnoPark Sign) onto Cathedral Road and park just before the first green gate, approximately 200 yards up the road.
