The Tahoe Rim Trail

The views are amazing from this part of the Tahoe Rim Trail

DESCRIPTION

This is the closest access point to the actual "Rim" portion of the Rim Trail off of Mt Rose. Starting your run at Ophir Creek cuts about 1.5 miles (or 3 miles, roundtrip) off of the trip from the Tahoe Meadows trailhead. You'll reach spectacular views in less than 2 miles then can make your run as long or short as you like by making it an out-and-back. Plan on stopping for a few minutes when you first reach the rim. The views are truly amazing.

Bullet - Dog Dog friendly, but bring her water.

Bullet - Outhouse The first part of the trail is fairly wooded and secluded areas abound. Once up on the rim you'll have to look for rock outcroppings.

DIRECTIONS

Take SR 28 towards Incline Village, NV. Turn Right onto Country Club Drive in Incline (shortly after the Ponderosa Ranch). Take Country Club Drive until it ends at Mt Rose Highway. Turn right and drive up Mt Rose Highway for about 6 miles. A couple of miles after the large scenic overlook on the right, you'll leave the trees and come out into a huge meadow area. Immediately park on the shoulder to the right. A multitude of trails head into the woods but they all eventually end up in the same place: The Tahoe Rim Trail.

If you're coming from the Galena side of Mt Rose Highway then you'll come to the Tahoe Meadows about 1/2 mile west of the summit. Drive just past the meadow and park on the shoulder.

We usually carpool from Round Hill Safeway.
