| View from Old Myers Grade |
DESCRIPTION
An all-road up-and-down on asphalt with truly breathtaking views of
Christmas Valley and southwards towards Meiss Country. While a little less than three miles,
the continuous uphill first half will be a quad burner. The road is closed to traffic,
with the exception of the occasional CalTrans or Forest Service truck, and is kept
clear in all seasons to provide emergency access to the new Myers Grade of HWY 50.
The buff-and-tough will want to challenge themselves to run the whole thing without pause
but the rest of us need to stop and take in the view (some of us want more view stops than
others). However you do it, after a trip to the top and back, you can truly say "I made
The Grade"!
If you're just not up to the challenge of all that hill work, you can run
South Upper Truckee from the same parking spot.
| |
Dog friendly and dog popular. Be VERY, VERY cautious and leash your dog as you approach HWY 50 at the top.
|
| |
There are only one or two safe, private places to pull over, both of them rocks on the uphill side. Fortunately, this
is a short run.
|
| |
This is an all-road run.
|
 |
DIRECTIONS
Take US HWY 50 out of Myers towards Sacramento. Cross the bridge over the
Truckee River and take the second Left onto South Upper Truckee road. Turn at the next
Right, parking immediately on the side of the road.
